Role Description

As we continue to scale, we are seeking a Credit Manager who will take full responsibility for the Credit function and play a key role in safeguarding portfolio quality, supporting onboarding, and ensuring disciplined credit governance across our platform.

This is a, hands-on, specialist role – ideal for a finance professional with experience in credit assessment, portfolio monitoring, and counterparty due diligence within a regulated financial setting in Malta.

The Credit Manager will oversee and support the full credit lifecycle at Liquiditas, from onboarding due diligence of buyers and suppliers through to ongoing risk assessment, exposure monitoring across all Supply Chain Finance products, and the development and application of relevant credit policies and procedures The role requires strong judgement, analytical depth, and the ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Policy & Governance

  • Support the maintenance and enhancement of credit policies and risk frameworks for SCF and receivables financing.
  • Ensure ongoing alignment with internal governance standards and regulatory expectations.

Credit & Counterparty Assessment

  • Perform financial and counterparty checks as part of onboarding buyers and suppliers.
  • Conduct credit analysis, including financial review, ratio assessment, and risk scoring.
  • Prepare and contribute to credit reviews, recommendations, and limit-setting.
  • Support periodic reassessments, renewals, and exposure monitoring.
  • Assist in reviewing transaction structures within the SCF context.
  • Identify and escalate inconsistencies, gaps, or red flags in onboarding information.

Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Management

  • Monitor portfolio performance, concentration levels, ageing, and early-warning indicators.
  • Support the identification and management of deteriorating exposures.

Stakeholder Communication, Reporting & Collaboration

  • Contribute to internal credit and portfolio reporting for management.
  • Support credit-related audits and regulatory interactions.
  • Work closely with Sales, Operations, Product, and Compliance to ensure smooth onboarding and consistent credit standards.
  • Support deal structuring discussions by providing timely credit input.
  • Coordinate with Finance on exposure reporting, provisioning inputs, and portfolio analytics.
  • Contribute to cross-team initiatives to enhance SCF workflows, platform capabilities, and client experience.

Continuous Improvement

  • Keep informed on market, regulatory, and SCF industry developments.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in processes, tools, and workflows across the credit function.

Requirements:

Education & Professional Background

  • Degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in credit analysis, credit risk management, or corporate lending within a financial institution or regulated fintech.
  • Strong understanding of lending, receivables-based financing, Supply Chain Finance, or working-capital solutions.
  • Experience with Malta’s regulatory environment (credit, risk, financial services).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong financial analysis capability (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, ratios, credit scoring).
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate corporate financials, program structures, and complex transactions.
  • Advanced judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Proactive approach to risk identification and portfolio management.
  • Strong communication and report-writing abilities.
  • High integrity, independence, and reliability.
  • Comfort working in a startup environment with evolving processes.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in credit operations within SCF programs (buyers or suppliers).
  • Exposure to due diligence and onboarding processes in financial institutions.
  • Familiarity with fintech platforms, digital workflows, and credit automation concepts.
