PSC LIVE Recap: Strategy, Sustainability, and the Power of Timing
For two days, London became the hub for procurement and supply chain leaders at this year’s Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE. This event gathered executives, innovators, and visionaries to exchange ideas on how the industry is adjusting to an environment that is mostly defined by risk, rapid change, and a vast amount of new technologies. Liquiditas joined the event as a Gold Sponsor, and was part of the discussions that are shaping tomorrow’s supply chains. The topics covered went from resilience and sustainability to data-driven decision-making, and more. The energy in each of the panels and forums established one thing: procurement can no longer be treated as a secondary function, as it is clearly an element that fuels the energy in every strategic move and adds on to the overall competitive global scene.
Key Themes from the Event
Numerous themes stood out across the sessions and the panels. Visibility turned out to be a great factor, and real-time data was perceived as the only method that lets companies proactively manage risks. Technology and AI were the most mentioned topics that sparked debate in every corner of the event. The main sentiment regarding these topics is that they are full of potential but should be viewed cautiously when not supported by strategy and solid data. Sustainability was defined as a concept that surpasses mere compliance, and that main conclusion is that it calls for long-term planning as well as collaboration across different industries. And all the while, the function of procurement was considered to be changing. The leaders in procurement are becoming more than just negotiators and are becoming collaborators, risk managers, and storytellers who can connect the corporate strategy and the values of their business with the operational details, creating more flexible environments. And the most common procurement challenge: costs, speed, and quality – ensuring each is maintained at an optimal and satisfactory level without compromising the others.
Highlights from the Panels
The panels gave an overview of the way procurement is changing. The P2P strategies panel demonstrated how efficiency is being redefined by transparency, automation, and supplier collaboration. Agentic AI painted a clear picture of AI as a transformative force, which is set to change operating models, roles, and skills, although the main conclusion is that its adoption will be gradual. Finance and spend management sessions focused on bringing together fragmented systems to provide control and agility, while also improving the working environment of the employees. Last but not least, the future of procurement technology panel envisioned some tools like predictive analytics, blockchain, and digital twins – breakthroughs that have a real potential to make procurement a more connected, intelligent, and strategic enabler.
Liquiditas Workshop: Time Advantage
One of the standout sessions at PSC LIVE came from our Liquiditas team. We hosted a workshop named Time Advantage – How to Use Better Payment Timing as a Strategic Tool. This workshop reframed payment terms, showing that timing is a very important detail in operations that shapes flexibility, collaboration, and long-term growth.
The conversation focused on how unanticipated expenses frequently result from late supplier payments. Longer terms increase financial constraints downwards, weakening the supply chain even though they may temporarily strengthen the balance sheets. Particularly, smaller suppliers must deal with more borrowing costs, less flexibility, and missed opportunities. But, buyers are also affected in this scenario, which makes them susceptible to missing competitive advantages, strained relationships, and supply disruptions.
To contrast this we brought attention to our core product – supply chain finance (reverse factoring) – which turns liquidity into a mutual advantage of the buyers and suppliers. Buyers gain stronger partners, while their suppliers free up their working capital so they can easily be able to invest, hire, and innovate. The workshop made clear that these programs, despite their direct effect of easing cash flow, have another benefit that comes in the form of building trust and strengthening the entire supply chain.
The message was clear: better timing is not finance alone – it’s strategy in action.
Closing Reflections
PSC LIVE London ended on a strong note: the future of procurement is being shaped by the intersection of technology, sustainability, and human trust. Although AI and cutting-edge tools will easily become the new important forces, strategy, connections, and resilience will always be the cornerstones. For Liquiditas, contributing as a Gold Sponsor meant more than just being present there. It meant introducing supply chain finance into these conversations and, through a workshop of ideas, opening discussions about how liquidity may turn into a real strategic advantage, since payment timing turned out to be a crucial component.
